Recently, South Korea's LD Carbon Company officially completed South Korea's first and largest waste tire pyrolysis plant in Dangjin City, eastern South Korea, marking a key step for South Korea in the field of waste tire resource utilization. It is reported that the plant covers an area of 29,800 square meters, equipped with two plant buildings and five silos, and is scheduled to start full operation next month. According to information released by LD Carbon on April 24, the plant has an annual processing capacity of 50,000 tons of 'tire fragments' made from scrap tires, using an innovative two-stage pyrolysis process. The scrap tires are first converted into pyrolysis oil and solid charcoal, and then the solid charcoal is further processed to produce recycled carbon black through secondary pyrolysis. In terms of production capacity, the Dangjin plant is expected to produce 20,000 tons of recycled carbon black and 24,000 tons of pyrolysis oil each year, far exceeding the annual output of 7,000 tons of its existing pilot plant in Gimcheon City. It is worth mentioning that the recycled carbon black produced by this process has significant environmental benefits. Compared with traditional carbon black, it can reduce carbon emissions by up to 32,000 tons per year, contributing to South Korea's carbon reduction goals. In terms of market cooperation, LD Carbon has reached a 10-year long-term procurement agreement with SK Incheon Petrochemical to ensure a stable sales channel for pyrolysis oil. At the same time, as an important measure of industry cooperation, LD Carbon has joined hands with Hankook Tire and other companies to jointly work on improving the recycling rate of tires and promoting the sustainable development of the tire industry. LD Carbon revealed that it plans to actively deploy overseas markets in the future, and will enter the Asian market in the near future and establish overseas production bases.
